Description: You will learn to develop server side applications, based on Servlets and JavaServer Pages for the control and flow of an e-business application, and develop and test Servlets and JSPs with WebSphere Studio Application Developer, version 5. This course will also provide you with the ability to deploy server-side Java applications using WebSphere Application Server, version 5.

Java programmers wishing to learn how to build web applications using J2EE.

Prerequisites: Develop, test and deploy Java applications as covered in course JA34GB. Basic knowledge of WebSphere Studio Application Developer as covered in JA34GB or the online tutorial supplied with Application Developer.


On completion you will be able to:
Describe the J2EE component model and its use in building server-side applications
Use IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer and WebSphere Application Server
Develop and test servlets, JSPs and JavaBeans using Application Developer
Use JavaBeans, JSPs, and Java Servlets in accordance with the Model-View-Controller model
Assemble and perform integration testing of J2EE based applications using Application Developer and WebSphere Application Server
Identify the best practices needed to design and build web applications

Developing and testing Java Servlets, JSPs and business logic using JavaBeans
Assembling J2EE components and applications and performing integration testing
Developing and testing J2EE based applications using sound application architectures.

Remarks:This course is for developers using WebSphere Studio Application Developer, version 5.

Practical work:
There are practical sessions throughout the course using WSAD.
